Looking for a moisture pick me up? then this post the BEST Co-wash conditioner to revive my dry and fizzy relaxed hair featuring Hairgarten is just for you.
**I was kindly sent these products to give my thoughts which are all my own.
Hairgarten, who are they?
Hairgarten’s founder and CEO Una Rawls’ mission is to help educate women about their hair, help them to embrace their beauty by using natural products to remove the stigma of natural hair. Her products contain, No minerals, Petroleum, Parabens, Sulfates or Silicones. I love to use natural products as I know what is going in my hair and on my skin. Health is wealth after all.
I’m currently 11 weeks 5 days 50 mins post relaxer. Yup, it’s that DEEP. This regrowth is taking no prisoners. I am in the search for a new moisturiser as my Shea Moisture Extra Moisturising Transitioning Milk has changed ingredients and I’m low key MADDD so this co-wash conditioner from Hairgarten came at a perfect time. I co-washed out the drying moisturiser I was trailing and now i am getting back on track with moisture.
This product is a hybrid. I would call it a conditioner and co-wash wrapped in one. It is thick as a deep conditioner. Smells amazing, just like cinnamon, and nutmeg which is my favourite scents.
After i rinsed out my deep conditioner i t-shirt dried for 15 mins to get rid of the excess water. I then applied the co-wash in sections from root to tip. Especially paying attention to my ends. I left it on for 10 mins whilst i showered then rinsed.
Ingredients
Distilled Water
100% Carrot Seed Extract – Helps to promote growth and is a great moisture aide.
Castor Oil – is a carrier oil that promote hair growth and thickens. Can be used a as a scalp oil or a conditioner aide.
My Thoughts
This co-wash right here. What can I say about Carrot Crush Co-wash conditioner? This thick, spicy smelling 8oz jar of goodness was a lovely surprise. It’s a great hybrid of co-wash and conditioner for thirsty strands with no manners – like mine. The slip was amazing so it glided on well and made my life easy to detangle this beast.
The application was easy. It nourished my strands whilst I showed. My dry 11-week post relaxed hair was no longer and i had hydrated, detangled shiny hair. I was so happy as this is great for my relaxer I’ll be doing soon. No cons from my point of view.
Since changing my leave application to L(Liquid) O (Oil) C (Cream) O (Oil) this kit has slotted right in nicely. It has every part covered. Let me introduce with my fav of the bunch….
Botanical Moisturizing Mist
Ingredients
Distilled water
Aloe Vera – sinks into the skin/hair to repair and strengthen from within. Smoothes and promotes growth.
Green Tea – Great inflammatory properties which promote growth and prevents hair loss. (perfect for shedding)
Chamomile Tea – Alleviate an itchy, dry scalp that can lead to dandruff
My Thoughts
This is a spray i never knew my hair needed until now. It was a little odd spraying it on my scalp but at the end it was very happy to be treated to this beauty.
This mist, smells amazing and is light but packs a moisture punch. Botanical Moisturizing Mist detangled, provided softness and sunk in to form a great base for the leave in method.
Carrot Crush Moisturizing Cream
Ingredients
Distilled water
Castor Oil – is a carrier oil that promote hair growth and thickens. Can be used as a scalp oil or a conditioner aide.
100% Carrot Seed Extract – Helps to promote growth and is a great moisture aide.
Seabuckthorn Oil – Protects hair against oxidative damage, promotes hair strength and elasticity.
My Thoughts
This multi-purpose moisturizer can be used as a leave in as well. It’s light but packs a punch. I applied to my damp hair and it sunk in nicely. If you are looking for shine and detangled bliss you in the right place.
For my hair it was good I just needed a bit more hydration as I am very late into my post relaxer and it’s hard to keep ALL of my textures hydrated. I will try it again when am relaxed as it could work differently.
I would have loved a thicker texture. I will have to use it just after I relax my hair. It is great at detangling, giving shine and sunk into strands great. My high porosity hair needs more and basically, it’s rude and picky but for Low and normal porosity hair you can revel in this greatness.
Carrot Crush Moisture Lock Oil

100% Carrot Seed Extract – Helps to promote growth and is a great moisture aide.
Seabuckthorn Oil – Protects hair against oxidative damage, promotes hair strength and elasticity.
Rice Bran Oil – has ample supply of vitamin E which repairs and builds tissue. Applied to the scalp works as an anti-inflammatory and repairs damaged hair follicles to help increase hair growth. Even helps to combat pre-mature greys.
Vitamin A – helps the scalp produce healthy sebum to nourish and protect the hair. Also, strengthens hair to reduce breakage.
My Thoughts
Ooooo! Carrot Crush Moisture Lock Oil is THICC, thicc, no seriously. It is a thick nourishing oil to lock in that moisture. This is oil delivers. It’s packed with great ingredients that can be used on your scalp too. Rice Bran oil is a ceramide so you’ll benefit from the binding and sealing properties.
If you moisturize and seal your hair once a week this oil will work a treat. yeah, i can only dream about that life. I do my hair daily so this oil will end up weighing my hair down.
Final Thoughts
Overall this co-wash experience was the best idea before my relaxer. My hair felt dry and fried (even though i rarely use heat). It NEEDED reviving! the last month has been real tough.
My fav’s out of the bunch is the Co-wash conditioner and Mist. These two stood out for me as my hair was life after using them. I’m still reaping the benefits days later. I could repurpose the oil to a scalp oil as I think it would work better for me. All in ALl. It’s a great brand. I’ve been looking at other products to try next.
